Sign of the Year Award

Our Sign of the Year Award is granted to the sign deemed to be the most distinguished of the year. A voting committee comprised of our longest tenured employees is tasked with determining which sign is worthy of being the Sign of the Year. The committee takes into account many factors including concept design, build quality, and the incorporation of unique signage elements. To be eligible for the Sign of the Year, the sign must have been completed and installed, picked up, or delivered during that calendar year.

2017: Auburn Township, Ohio

Auburn Township ground sign

About the Project

Sign of the year

The Auburn Township Village Hall sign was a very interesting and unique sign to fabricate. This sign has a rural barn sign detail but made with modern materials, which makes this sign extremely unique. This sign includes exquisite detailed routing along with hand finished HDU (High Density Urethane). Although it was a challenge for production, it is also the reason why this was the top leading sign of the year. The uniqueness includes; faux wood finishes, state of the art engraving from CNC routing, and high gloss painting. The intent was to create a unified branding throughout the township. Township residents were thrilled to see the signs go up as they were happy it gave Auburn township a great image.

2017: Adam’s Street Station

Adams Street Station Contact Slider After

About the Project

The Adams Street Station project combined complex sign design and challenging  sign construction into a phenomenal product. Adam Street Station is a gated community of decommissioned rail cars that have been converted into luxury suites. Located directly next to the Jacksonville, Florida stadium district, the Adams Street rail cars are a perfect destination for pregame festivities!

Easy Sign crafted two main entrance signs along with smaller train car identification signs that were mounted next to the accompanying cars. Our sign designers incorporated train elements into the project. We crafted high density urethane “cattle catchers” that project from the sign backer and bring the signs to life. Gold leaf was used to accent the sign designs and bring them to life out in the Florida sun.

2016: Uncommon Art

Custom wall signage

About the Project

Uncommon Art combines three art studios and a retail gallery on historic Main Street in Hudson, Ohio. This sign project was about as uncommon as the art in their gallery. It wasn’t the largest sign of the year but it did incorporate many unique elements of design and method to create a very interesting sign. The sign, mounted over the door of the gallery, has three letters wrapped in different medias. One with gold flakes, another in silver leaf, and the last wrapped in newspaper. The backer was created with high density urethane that was crafted to look like bark. Lettering was flat cut into the backer before it was painted. The recessed area behind “Art” is filled with glass and epoxy, a method known as smalts.

2015: Impact Group

street-side identifier

About the Project

The Impact Group is a public relations firm in Hudson, Ohio. Their unique building is cleverly nicknamed the Impactagon because of its octagonal design. Our sign designers made sure to incorporate that eight sided shape into the address elements on this Sign of the Year winner. The sign itself is a multi-tenant sign crafted out of High Density Urethane crafted to look like reclaimed wood. The tenant panels are made of durable PVC material. This monolith style sign was constructed over a stone Easy Build base. Installation of this sign was done within two days of on-site work.

2014: Crumb & Spigot

restaurant branding sign

About the Project

Crumb & Spigot is a tavern in Bainbridge, Ohio. We were approached to create a unique sign that would fit under an archway that encompasses their entrance. Taking influence from bourbon barrels, our sign designers drafted up a hanging sign that fits perfectly under the archway. A majority of the sign is made of high density urethane foam crafted to look like wood elements. This sign perfectly blends design elements from the building along with the tavern’s branding. This was one of the most unique projects that we’ve crafted and was the perfect candidate for the inaugural Sign of the Year Award.
