Flat Groove Engraved Signs
Flat groove engraving is a routing technique that is used in production of a sign face. The process essentially removes the material and leaves a flat area at the bottom of the cut. Flat groove engraving is commonly used when routing letters or borders into the sign face.
Flat groove engraved signs have a few benefits. The largest benefit is the ability to easily paint the sign in the production process. With flat groove lettering the letters can be painted quickly and easily. After the letters are painted the face of the sign can be coated with a color using a paint roller. This also benefits the future sign restoration process.
